Community : Membership

Health Canada, Health Promotion and Programs Branch fund the multi-year program. Listed below are the objectives:

  • To develop a province wide integrated network of service providers in prevention, care, treatment, support, clinical, community based, urban and rural, on and off reserve who are dealing with HIV/AIDS issues.
  • Identify roles and responsibilities of Network organizations and representatives.
  • Update and distribute Red Road HIV/AIDS Network Resource Directory to First Nations Communities, Aboriginal AIDS Service Organizations (ASO), Metis Communities and Individuals working with Aboriginal people living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Develop Policies and Procedures
  • Distribute relevant educational material.
  • Assist the Executive Director by identifying priorities and developing the workplan for the implementation of the Red Road: Pathways to Wholeness, An Aboriginal Strategy for HIV and AIDS in BC.
  • To develop, implement and monitor program and service standards through process and outcome evaluation.
  • Assist the Executive Director in identifying communities who have developed models.
  • To encourage the participation of Aboriginal people in all aspects of research on Aboriginal HIV/AIDS Issues.
  • Increase involvement of Aboriginal people in research.
  • Increase capacity of Aboriginal communities, community-based organizations with HIV/AIDS Programs, AIDS Service Organizations (ASO) and Aboriginal People living with HIV/AIDS (APHA).
  • To ensure that technical and other information about HIV/AIDS is relevant and available to Aboriginal communities and individuals.
  • To maintain HIV/AIDS Funding Manual.
  • Address cultural diversity within our many Aboriginal communities.

Red Road HIV/AIDS Network Membership includes: Organizations or corporations that are organized for the purpose of addressing HIV/AIDS Issues, Aboriginal AIDS Service Organizations (ASO), Community Based Organizations who have HIV/AIDS programs, and Aboriginal Persons Living with HIV/AIDS (APHA).
